Reformat Windows Xp..Press Any Key To Boot From CD...Doesn't Come Up

Hi there i'm trying to reformat my Windows XP Home.
i put the windows xp cd that i got with the computer in the drive.
restart the computer
go to the BOIS settings
Put Boot from cd is first spot
Save it
But nothing comes up saying Press Any Key To Boot From CD.

it just comes up saying "boot from cd _" (the _ is flashing) & than windows doesn't even load up?...

Can Someone Help me as to whats wrong & how to fix it
& is there any other ways i can reformat my Windows XP
 
A couple quick thoughts . . .

Is it a genuine windows XP CD or some proprietary restore disk?

Do you perhaps have two optical drives and it's trying to boot from the other one?
