Reformatting for a clean install

I'm looking to reformat my hard drive for a clean install of Windows XP pro. I've backed up my data and am ready to go. Is there anything I should know before I proceed.
Also would it be wise to partition the drive with NTFS?

NTFS yes...........don't do a quick format.
Your good. just another adventure.

You can format the drive to NTFS before XP installs. It asks you if
you want to format or not. As suggested, don't choose the Quick Format.

There's no need to partition the drive unless you want to install another
OS later. Partitions can be created after you install Windows anyway.
