are there any advantages to reformatting a brand new computer and installing a new copy of windows? Wouldn't it just be a hassle to reinstall drivers and other software?

Pretty much. Some computers dont have too much junk loaded to worry about, where as others are just loaded down with crap. I know my Averatec isnt too bad so I just go ahead and use the copy of windows it came with...

its a PITA installing all the software (depending on how much is installed) . Why would you want to reformat a new drive?

well my friend just got a new laptop and her brother is insisting that he install a new copy of windows on it...and i thought that wasn't really necessary. wouldn't there be a lot of drivers to install too?
