reg cleaner and free anti spy-where software

Registry cleaners are bogus. I use CCleaner, it has a registry cleaner but I seldom use it. And it's free.

ccleaner has so much all in the one place , nice

True, but he needed only the registry cleaner.Ccleaner cleans a LOT more than just the registry. Most of the people do use Ccleaner and they usually select to delete everything and later they are like:"Wtf where did this disappear???!!!"

LoL.:D

Eusing free registry cleaner cleans the invalid registry enntires and nothing else and that is more than enough for what he needs.

And as for the free antispyware software,Malwarebytes anti-malware is also a good choice for him.Even though he can buy the licensed version.

Cheers!

Hi, i'm noob.First post.

I have a question about those registry cleaners. I have a pc mainly for gaming and internet. I7,gtx580 and other stuf.

When i surf the web as for example today i was looking for an emulator to record gameplay i get those pop ups about how many threats there are on my pc and that i should scan and clean my registry and stuf.

What is up whit that? Should i worry or are they just trying to sell me something i totaly don't need.

To be very clear, i know how to use a pc but have not really a clue how it works.

So i came here to seek decent answers greetings.

Most likely you have downloaded malware and should download and run malwarebytes. What did you install?

Wel i've been looking around here and i found malwarebytes and used it. It found some malware(4 items) and i removed them. It seems gone.

It came from other software than the emulators. I don't know what exactly but it was from recording software as well.

Helpfull place here thx.

I also noticed that some of you actually do use those reg cleaners. Is that important? Does it improve performance and stuff?

Now that I'm home, I can post my usual speech.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com. If you are still having issues running rkill then try downloading these renamed versions of the same program.

EXPLORER.EXE
IEXPLORE.EXE
USERINIT.EXE
WINLOGON.EXE

But DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Vista and Windows 7 users must right click on the hijackthis icon and click on run as. If the run as option doesn't appear then press and hold the shift key while right clicking on the icon to get it to appear.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

When the hijackthis log appears in a notepad file, click on the edit menu, click select all, then click on the edit menu again and click on copy. Come back to your reply and right click on your mouse and click on paste.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

Can you post the malwarebytes log? To find the log, open malwarebytes and click on the logs tab. Then open the log and copy and paste the results back here. Also post the hijackthis log so we can make sure you don't have anything else running that you don't need to.

Registry cleaners are not recommended for the most part. Some can do more damage then anything. You can use Ccleaner as a general cleaner just don't use the registry cleaner.
