Something is wrong with my reg. Everytime I use any problem even this one ( I just found) about 10-%-20% (depending on program) Computer crashes and I get a psychical memory dump. I have tried everything, sby-bot, ad-aware, anit-virus, etc.... could someone please help

Sounds more like driver problems then anything there. Some general system information and the types of programs run would help here.

thanks P C

On the new build here with the auto updaters placing Vista drivers on XP for the sound card and problems seen until the new Catalyst 7.10 was released for the ATI line of video cards I was seeing sudden restarts and BSODs with the ati2dvag.dll error plus crashes in both games and apps. On older builds sound drivers often resulted in seeing crashes if they needed to be reinstalled or updated.

There you have alot of things running at once from a quick look at your sig. AIM, MSN Live, and Yahoo are active plus whatever games or programs you are trying to run when seeing the crashes and memory dumps. Besides device drivers you could be running into some type of software driver clash.

Another thing you might to look into is a pronlem with temps if something like the cpu or memory is overheating on you. Have you monitored those at all? How old is the system there?

New system:
AMD 64 939
Asus A8n-E MB
Nvidia GForce 6600
1g Value Ram
Western Dig 80g HD

Temp.
CPU 31c
system 30c

You can rule out high temps if those were seen in the hardware monitor. That's an older model video card however. If you can't find the newest drivers you may wnat to consider going for a newer card. Besides drivers a look at increasing memory with a number of things running at once or disabling some in the msconfig utility's startup and services tabs would free up resources for the programs you are seeing problems with.

Are those games mainly or desktop applications as well? As for Spybot S&D I tried and replaced that one a few times. Currently for both XP and Vista alike a more recent freeware named Spyware Terminator manages to catch what Ad-Aware2007 even misses. That's free and automatically will update itself. http://www.spywareterminator.com/

For the advanced user I would point out RegCleaner since it will open with a main window displaying all non MS programs installed. You go upto the tools option seen on the menu bar for the dropdown list with registry cleanup seen as the second one there. At the bottom is the option for regedit as well while the automatic cleaner is found in a second dropdown menu that appears when you click on the registry cleanup option.

The freeware works in 95 right through Vista for locating and removing loose items and invalid shortcut keys in the registry itself. You would be surprised to see what software uninstallers leave behind there. ! The home page for the free program is seen at http://www.dewassoc.com/support/useful/regcleaner.htm

Another tool for finding any removing specific registry values and even removing drivers from the Windows\system32 folder is called Regseeker. That one is intended more for manual operations. Hoverdesk also has some other good freewares to look over as well at http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm
