I have a desktop Gateway GM5442 with Vista . While doing a scan , I found I had a Virus, didnt say what type. In trying to reinstall my virus protection,(which I like ) somehow through stupidity I clicked on something that changed my registry.

How to I know this for sure and what do i do about it. I didnt do any backups because when I go to computer , I always see a Recover D: drive and always assume thats the backup. So how can I know if it was changed ?
 
I am running another scan now. So if it removes it, will my registry go back to what it was. I do remember clickin ok when it ask to change it .
 
I figure I would reinstall just to be on the safe side. Its Charter Security Suite, which is our internet provider. I thought that if it allowed a virus through , then something must not be working
 
Scan completed . This is the virus . I had it taken care of , so should I be in good shape now ?

Also the reason I reinstall my virus protection is because the virus protection kept freezing when checking icons
 
I am still using my Charter Security Suite , if thats what you mean. I just uninstalled it and then downloaded it again and ran it. I actually ran it twice and no more viruses
