Reinstallation OS Failure!!!! HELLLPPP!!

My boyfriend was reinstalling/rebooting, whatever, (sorry im not the computer genius in this relationship lol) our laptop with the Operating System CD. He got to the second disc, and then left for work leaving me to finish up the rest. I went into the other room for about 20 seconds and when I came back I found out my 4 year old turned the laptop off!! ...... When I turned it back on, it gave me this message:

Press any key to boot from CD..... Error loading operating system

I called my boyfriend at work, and then tried turning it off, taking the disc out, turning it back on. This time it just said "Error loading operating system". Put the disc back in, tried again, same message:

Press any key to boot from CD..... Error loading operating system

HELLLLLLLLLLLPPPP! Although I dont know much about computers, it makes perfect sense to me that if you are installing an operating system and the computer gets turned off before u are finished, that yes, it might have trouble loading operating system, lol. But this is a very very bad situation, my boyfriend is pretty damn pissed, and we dont know what to do!!

Please someone reply to me on this message board, or even better yet, email me ASAP with suggestions. I have also posted this in the Operating Systems forum. thank u so much!

Right, I take it you have pressed any key to boot from the CD? When you boot from a Windows CD you have only 4-5 seconds to press any of the keys. When you press the key it'll load the CD up. If this doesn't happen then you need to check the disc for any scratches that may be causing it to fail. I've been caught out by the 'press any key' statement going too fast before!

omfg lol. yeah so aparrently on this laptop i have about 1 second or less to press it!!! i had to retry it about four times to do it in time. it looks like it is working now, i feel like a friggen idiot for posting all that drama. but now i know that this site is awesome and helps people out for sure! thanks so much PabloTEK!!
