Reinstalling windows on this laptop

So my friend has this laptop:

And he just bought a 120GB SSD to put on it. I am worried about the graphics card.

It switches back and forth from the intel video driver to the Nvidia 555m via a switch on the front of the laptop. When I install windows, will it behave normally and still allow the graphics card switch to work?

I asked Lenovo and they said they could not guarantee it'll work since I'm using an OEM version of windows to reinstall. Does anyone know if this will work or not? Thanks.

I'd imagine there should be some kind of driver on Lenovo's support Site that would allow the switch to operate correctly after installing windows.

I'd say just install windows and all necessary drivers and see if it works

why not back up the drivers that are on it right now(using a driver backup program),that way you can put them back on after reinstalling windows.

It won't affect your video card but you still need drive program. So, before you reinstalling windows, be sure to download all drive or back up driver.

Why don't you simply copy the drive image to the SSD from the current hard drive. Keep the original and then install the SSD (with the aformentioned system image installed on it).

You can use free softeware such as Paragon's Drive Copy Free. This software can do a bit-by-bit copy clone from your current hard drive to your new ssd. Just ensure you have the latest bios on the SSD from the manufacturer first.
