Release dates for 660?

All I can find is the rumors before the 680 was released. Anyone heard about what the real release date is for the Kepler mid range cards?

I was gonna ask this myself, i heard speculation that they are having trouble producing the cards and that they wont be out until later summer but who knows, its all just rumor :(

I might wait until Asus comes out with their RoG versions of the 680. hopefully affordable, and ofc in the Matrix series. But I've heard the 690 is coming in the second half of May so maybe april could be release time for mid range cards

Good choice salvage, i pesonally would choose the ASUS Direct CUII but then ive never had any other!

hopefully Raz3rD i cant wait :(

Me neither, I really dont want to settle with a 560 when i can build so if the 660/660ti is priced the same as a 560 or a bit more then i know what i'm going for

Either would work. I just like the MSI coolers better. I am looking at load temps for the stock 680 and I want a better cooler on it. Hopefully in t eh next few weeks.

Same. I was looking towards 580 performance with 2gb of VRAM for $300 but I might just settle (lol) for the 680 with a better cooler.

I'm looking to purchase a GTX 660 when it comes out. Hopefully the other Kepler cards will be here sooner rather than later. I can't find anything about the 660 release date on the web either, but give it a few weeks and we'll probably know.

Yeah, and the midrange cards of the 7xxx series that AMD released came out about a month after the 7970 came out so I think nVidia will have a similar plan

Yeah Raz3rD, i may even think of upgrading my 560ti, they should be a similar price judging by the pricing of the 680, its a lot yes but i was expecting a higher price!

Salvage: Ahh okay i see what your saying, well i think i saw the Palit version of the 680 is out already, not sure how well known or good palit are mind, you should look into it? Hopefully this could mean the other branded cards will be out soon!?
EDIT: It is out, the other brands shouldnt be far behind then i would think : http://www.hardwareheaven.com/revie...dition-graphics-card-review-introduction.html

Again i agree it shouldnt be more than a couple weeks!

I have always been a little worried about Palit. I have heard good things about them but also really bad things. If I remember right Linkin had a 460 from them that was not too good.

I hope the others are out soon It depends on how long it takes for companies to make their own PCB for the 680. It looks like the Palit version that you linked is a custom PCB so hopefully others will follow soon :D

Once upon a time I owned a Palit GT 220. I know the GT 220 wasn't a brilliant card in the first place but I remember the Palit one I had was awful. Would not buy from Palit again. I like EVGA, ASUS and MSI for the NVIDIA cards.

Still trying to find out at least when the rest of the Kepler may be here. The GTX 580 was launched in November 2010, and the GTX 560 Ti was launched in January 2011, so that should give us some idea of when NVIDIA plan to release the 660/600 Ti. Give it two months? It may even be one month if this is anything to go by, it could be a May release date for the GT 640, GTX 650 Ti, GTX 670 and GTX 670 Ti, but we may have to wait until July before we get a 660. :(

Man i hope they are out soon :( i may even upgrade to a 670, instead of a 660(Ti)!

Then again im happy with my card and not sure if a newer card is needed, ill need to wait and see the specs and performance/cost first!

Hmmm from a 560 Ti I doubt you'd really need an upgrade? A 560 Ti will still be good definitely for another year, possibly longer. I think I may end up getting a 670 though if the price:performance ratio is better than that of the 660. The 670 Ti is meant to have the same sort of performance as the GTX 580 though, so it will be interesting to see how the 660 and the 670 perform. Doesn't look to me like there's going to be a "660 Ti" though, only a 650 Ti and a 670 Ti.

At the moment I'm using the Intel HD 3000 graphics (had to sell my GTS 450 in order to fund my 2500K + P8Z68-V PRO + 16GB RAM + Freezer 13) - a 660 or a 670 would be a huge upgrade from these onboard graphics. By the way for onboard graphics the HD 3000 is pretty good!

I totally agree thinking about it, it suits my needs fine, i love it :D

Hmm thats odd, no 60Ti :(, i bet the 670 Ti would kick all kinds of ass though!:gun:

What did you think of the GTS 450 when you had it? was it good? I have a friend who im picking out parts for and the evga GTS 450 looked decent for his budget (really quite small) so if i could get a previous owners opinion thatd be great!

I admit when ive seen your build in your sig (BTW nice build if i may say) ive thought wow MAJOR bottle neck hahaha! But thats interesting to hear, ive never thought about using the onboard before!

But your right that would be a great upgrade! Good choice!

The GTS 450 I had was the EVGA Superclocked edition, so it ws overclocked by something like 10MHz (probably too little an overclock to notice any difference) but it was a good card yes. I played Dirt 3 with it (a pretty demanding game) at a good 60-70 FPS on High settings at 1280x720, and if I upped the resolution to 1920x1080 it would only drop by about 20 FPS so around about 50 FPS. That was with the 285.62 drivers, since then new drivers have been released and performance may increase. I'd recommend the card for somebody like me who doesn't game that much and is on a budget. He may want to consider the GTX 550 Ti though, it's newer and supposedly faster than a 450, and it's only a bit more expensive.

I can't say for sure whether or not there is going to be a 660 Ti or a 670 Ti but remember that these are all rumors. None of this has been announced by NVIDIA.

Yes the graphics are a major bottleneck for me at the moment but they do the job and I'm actually pretty impressed with them for integrated graphics. I can play Dirt 3 on medium at 1280x720 at about 20-25 FPS which is playable. I may however look into getting a GTX 570 when the 660 and 670 come out because I bet the prices of the 570 will drop like mad. A 570 may even become a "budget card".

Yeah I'm leaning towards an EVGA 570, which is already dropped down a bit over here, from around 300 to 275. so just waiting for 660/670 and then it should be abit more afforadble :)

Yep same here got my eye on the Twin Frozr III GTX 570. Right now it's £240 here, it's dropped from £250. But on the other hand the ASUS GTX 560 Ti 448 has dropped from £210 to £200, and now an ASUS 560 Ti an be had for £165, so the prices are dropping.

yeah, Still id rather go for a 570, i was then look at the EVGA GTX570 HD 1.2GB version. then I'd save up for a second one.
