Reloading Windows on crappy old desktop

Hi guys,

My better half has sold her PC to a mate, and asked me to reload the OS and remove all the other crap that has accumulated on there... To do this, I've booted from the CD-ROM supplied with the machine and asked it to reset the thing to factory settings. This has finished now, but no matter what I do, the computer is unable to boot up correctly... I get to the system test screen before the OS loads and it says that it has failed to boot from CD-ROM... I've said in the BIOS for the machine to boot from the Hard-Drive and not the disk, but it's not having any of it!

Any ideas how I can get the OS to work?

Cheers

ummm, make sure no cd is in the drive or floppy is in the drive, double check to make sure the hard drive is the correct drive number, some bios will say boot from hd-0, hd-1, hd-2 ect... HD-0 is what you want.

Thanks for your reply... I've specified to boot from HD-0 and I've told it not to even look for a CD-ROM, but the silly thing is still trying to boot from ATAPI CD-ROM... Obviously, where I don't have the disc in the machine, this is saying FAILURE. Any other hints would be greatly appreciated!
