I want to access a laptop computer from other computers, anywhere. it is on a home network and so i have an ip for the laptop, and for the gaeway. but i dont know how to access it from say a friends house(while the laptop is on) to download stuff from the C:\ any help would be appreciated, doing that would help alot

Hey man.
Now I am not an expert at any of this stuff but I use ULTR@VNC. The neat thing is that if you connect through the internet through one PC (and the other pc is linked to it), you can use a special feature called a repeater as far as I remember within the program. This would allow you to access the other PC through the first PC. You can download the program here http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/ . I am a happy user of it...and it's FREE! It works in two modes. A server mode and a viewer mode. The one you are accessing will use the server mode and the PC you are viewing from will use the viewer mode. Good luck man and lemme know how it went.
