remote computer access help please

I am trying to enter in another computer from mmy computer over the internet. but I tried msn messenger, pc anywhere and several other programs and it is not working. on my computer, it shows my local network address and my internet address, but on the other computer, it only shows the network address. you can access my computer from the other one but not the other one from mine...look like there is something preventing me to connect to the other one. the remote computer does not have any firewall enable...anyone have any idea...

I looked a this before and there is none...the only thing I can see is that the modem that she is using for the internet is also used as a wireless for a laptop
 
haha, in your first post, you even said that you didn't have afirewall...my apologies. Do you have both parts of the program installed on both computers (ie~ The server and the viewing/configuration parts)? I had the same thing happen to me....but the only other thing I had to check/change was my anti-virus, because it saw the server part of the program as a Trojan, so it basically deleted it...
 
everything is installed right,
i used one of the program on other computers, that had antivirus and firewall and it was never a problem...
 
Sorry, I'm outta ideas. Someone will have an idea for ya....but in the mean time, if you haven't already, try using the SEARCH function, I'm sure there's been a dozen threads like this already.
 
I would recommend Access Remote PC (downloadable from download.com). It has an option that lets you bypass any firewall that may be preventing you to sucessfully access your networked computer. I tried it and it worked very well, since i used to have a problem with it showing the LAN IP instead of the external IP.

Or if you want a completely free program, try www.logmein.com. It's web based so you can use it on almost any computer including public PC's. Basically what you do is install software on your host PC, then on any connected computer you go to www.logmein.com, enter your username and password, and have instant remote access.
