Remote control for my comp

Well, it'd be handy to have a remote, so I'm looking for one. Will the official Windows one work on XP Pro?

If not, can anyone link me to any other remotes. Also, Im not going to make my own remote or receiver.

Which official Windows one are you talking about? And what do you want the remote to do?

Some HP laptops come with a multimedia remote. Or, you can get a remote that allows you to do presentations and such on your computer...

I have one I don't use too much, but they are neat. Realize most of them have programable buttons, so you could simply program one to say pop the Start Menu up if you wanted...

I'm equally ignorant but I think the Windows remote only works with MCE version. If you buy MCE the remote comes with it - there must be some sort of receiver too. Remotes also come with graphics cards and tv tuner cards.

My ATi AIW remote enables operating all the ATi players/TV and basic Windows operations like moving mouse, entering numbers, resizing windows etc.

If you connect your pc to the stereo and to the tv, remotes are hugely useful - be a real couch potato.

The one released for XP MCE.

I guess im after a remote that lets me skip/play tracks, switch on/off the visualizer, switch between open applications, 'hotkey' programs, so I can open/close them easily, basic stuff like that.

Hmm..., have you looked on Newegg? The only ones I know of have come with a new computer, but it's worth a shot..., oh and check out Tiger Direct as well...
