remote desktop to multiple PCs?

Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone can tell me how I can connect to two different computers through the remote desktop connection on the net.

I can successfully connect to my server pc by just getting my IP with whatismyip.com with no problem, however, I also want to be able to connect to my other pc on the same network. Since they both seem to have the same main IP address, how do I connect to either/or?

So basically, how do I tell remote desktop to connect to one or the other?

Thanks very much!:D

PS they are both XP pro service pack 2 pcs

You are trying to connect through the internet to both pcs?
I dont think there is a way to do RDC to both comuters on the same router... Your router should have a prot forwarded to tghe pc you want to use for rdc.. Thus is cannot change.. Unless you setup your router to be controlled across the internet, and you could change it on the fly..

OR you could use www.logmein.com it is a free web based computer desktop controll program. It has a client running on the pc you control, and you use a web broser to control it. Try it out..

But you original question can only be answered when we know how you are trying to connect (WAN/LAN) and your network setup(Router, modem, wireless... etc)

Alternatively you could remote desktop into your server, then load remote desktop on your server and remote desktop into your pc on the same LAN :) ive done this many times before and the performance doesnt suffer that much.

+1 for www.logmein.com. Software based client that works over HTTPS, no need to fuss with router settings or forward ports to specific machines. just install the client and connect over the interwebs. Simple, easy, and secure.

OK, it makes sense to just do a double remote thing or to just play with the router from afar, but now I have another problem...

I'm trying to do the Wake on LAN thing using this website http://www.rshut.com/products/wol/

I put in my MAC that I got with ipconfig /all and the ip from whatismyip.com, but it does not appear to be working. I know I have all the settings turned on for WOL, everything from router/drivers/device settings/BIOS/ etc...

I wonder if I have to do something like 125.157.14.146:104 (specific port) or 125.157.14.146:192.168.1.104 (ip on the network)

any ideas?

LogMeIn is a great free program for accessing your computer over the internet remotely, however if you are trying to access a PC on your network from another PC on your network, using LogMeIn isn't the best option as it has to go through the internet, and theres a fair amount of lag.

need more info, you are connecting over your LAN or over the internet? if its over your LAN whatismyip.com will only display your external public IP.
