removed antiwpa.dll and now can't activate XP

I did a virus scan with avast and I moved antiwpa.dll to the virus chest. Now when I boot up XP Home it gets to the welcome screen and then tells me I need to activate windows. I click "yes" to active and I try to go through the process but it can't access the internet. The ethernet cable I use works fine on every other computer, so that's not the problem. I also can't restore the .dll file from the avast chest because when I'm viewing the log I can't select any of the entires but I don't know why I can't select them... Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Do a system restore prior to deleting that file. Then scan your system for malware with malwarebytes. This just may be a false positive with avast.

Thanks for the reply. The computer was running really slow already anyway, so I already started backing up important files and I'm planning on doing a re-install. I noticed that the XP that is installed on the machine is actually a pirated version, so I will put a legit version on it.

Also, I already tried to start up in safe mode/ do system restore and noticed I can't enter the screen (pressing F8 doesn't do anything when booting up).

Yeah, I thought it was a pirated version but wasn't sure. I was at work when I replied earlier and wasn't really thinking at the time, but I kept thinking about it when I was working. Antiwpa.dll doesn't sound like a normal file.

ANTIWPA.DLL is a file which overpasses the Windows registration so that you do not have to register Windows in order to use them.It also removes the message which says that you must register Windows OS in the next 30 days.
And no ANTIWPA.DLL is not really a virus since it doesn't do anything harmful to the system, but it IS used to make pirated Windows OS to work forever on any machine without any problems.

And of course...it is illegal lol :D
