Removed OS from Mac ~ need help

Hi all,
My Daughter was told to clean off her mac laptop so she did, like, really clean it, removed the OS, seriously!!! and now the store where I got it from ( and still under warranty) say they cannot repair the laptop (USB port issues) which is obvious as no OS but they want to charge me to re image $125 or $295 if they can't.
I had someone tell me last week that a friend of theirs did the same thing to his lapt top and there was a way that he got the system back on to his lap top.
Can anyone help me? It's a 2015 model.

You should be able to hold down the CMD and R keys as you power on the computer and select that you want to boot into recovery. That will give you a basic environment that will allow you to connect to the internet and reinstall the OS that came with the computer.
