removing a factory overclock

Hey guys,

I got my new XFX hd7950 black for a week now.
The problem are the temps and especially the noise.
When I'm playing sleeping dogs for example, the temps raise to 79°C (that's the max), but especially the noise is really irritating.
Like the title of the card says, it's factory overclocked to 900/1350.
So I thought, maybe if I clock it at standard speed, the temps and noise will reduce.
But Idk or this can damage my gpu?
Or is there any way to reduce the noise without making it hotter.
I can barely hear the game, the card is that loud...
My pc is under my desk btw.

Thanks

Use msi afterburner or i think wolfeking like TRIXX or something like that, but just lower the clocks and tell it to save for startup too

I think I'll just return it and grab that gigabyte windforce, seems like those are silent and cool at the same time.
