removing heatsink

how do you get the clip off of a heatsink to remove it from the processor? i cant seem to figure it out. its intel celeron if you need to know that.
 
here is the heatsink(yeah, its an old computer:P lol.)

take a flat head screw driver, insert it into the notch above the clip,push down on the top of the retension clip with your finger, then pry outwars with the screw driver
 
That or if you have some plyers that'll fit, that'll sometimes work quite well. However you do so, be careful. It's very easy to over do it and tear up the mobo

haha, i dont actually use this computer anymore. im just gutting it to take a closer look. its an old 700Mhz Celeron.:P hasnt been used for some time. notice the heatsink doesnt even have fan on it and there were no case fans. never had any troube with it though, except window me:mad:

ahhh... i remember the terrors that are windows me...

lol. about as much as i used to.:) i actually thought about breaking the mobo to try to get it out.

same thing for window ME too.:P
 
Nice. Push down and then pull out... get some other geeky friends to help you :D... too bad there arn't many around here...:(
