I just downloaded a program that I dont want, I cant locate it in Add/Remove programs for some reason? I can't find it in program files either.

How do I get rid of it? Thanks.

Where did you download it to? Generally if you open a zip file with winzip or another file extraction tool like PKZip a new sub folder is created with the program name inside the folder where you unpack the files. The "checkout" option in winzip does this by default. If you downloaded a program named "utility" for example you would look in "C:\folder saved in\utility\" if it only created a desktop shortcut and no registry values or items in the Start>Programs menu.

MyDocuments? First creating temporary folders or specific folders for specific type of downloads always helps! You know precisely where to look at all times. If it made a desktop shortcut simply right click on that and look at the target line there to see where the executable is located.

Go to Start then go to All Programs and look at the list and see if the program is in there. Then put your mouse over the program and see if there is an uninstall oppion there.

Some downloaded freewares and some sharewares don't create registry values seeing links made in the Programs menu. They simply create a desktop icon or you have to create one yourself to start them that way. They won't be found in the add/remove programs since there are no changes made by new entries in the system registry itself. This is why looking at the target line in the desktop shortcut points to where the program's files are located.

if this is scaring you try "smarty uninstaller 2006'.this get rid of any progz that cant be installed via control panels add/remove program..
