Removing shortcut arrow?

A while ago I posted a topic to see if anyone could help me remove black boxes that were covering up my desktop icons, and nobody could help. I have since figured out how to fix that. The problem was when I tried to remove the shortcut arrows on my desktop icons, but apparently that gave me the problem. I reversed what I had done in the RegEdit and my icons were back to normal, but now I have the shortcut arrows again. So I was wondering if anyone knew a method to removing the shortcut arrows without having the black box problem? If anyone could help, thnx. If not, no biggy, they aren't too much of an annoyance.

What OS are you running ? If your are running Windows XP, then download a program called TweakUI... It has a spot in there to REMOVE the short cut arrow..

LoL...why on Earth would you want to remove the arrow from the shortcut lol...

Anyway the most simple way which comes to my mind is that you make a simple BATCH file in simple NOTEPAD which would run the ACTUAL program and after that just change the icon image from the default BATCH icon to the one you would like.
On this way you will not have an arrow since the BATCH file you made simply is not a shortcut since it is the ACTUAL FILE and not a shortcut which points to THAT file, but then again it is kind of a "shortcut" (in this case) since it runs the program from it's original destination.

ok thnx for the advice, srry for not posting this before lol, I'm using windows 7 ultimate, kinda dumb of me not to post that.
