A guy I was at the LAN with posted this, "Everyone who got infected had the same symptoms , they had a process running with random letters and it cause there games to run VERY choppy and it infected alot of files causing them to get a error when you open them. If you didn't experience any of that then you may be fine.

Unless you did alot of leeching or if you had a open share yourself , i wouldnt worry."

I didn't experience any of those symptoms.. And I didn't do a lot of leeching, if at all any, and I only opened my file sharing stuff when I would use it, which wasn't very often.


And apparently this is what was going around..

"The combination would be Win32/Heur which is typically a false positive but I'm pretty sure in this case it's actually just something AVG can't identify so I'm waiting on Avast (freakin' day and a half scanning) to give its verdict - that merged with 1 worm in its 2 forms -> Win32/Tanatos.H and Win32/Tanatous.J apparently."

Have them all run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and HiJackThis and send you the logs so you can post them here.
 
That may be a bit of a challenge, and I'm sure they can take care of themselves.


The people from the event are saying it's Win32/Tanatous worm, and removing it ended up messing up his Windows and he had to reformat.


I'm just a bit worried that I don't know if it's all gone, and the fact that I logged on my email/bank after I ran NOD32 yesterday, but I changed my passwords for them all today, on another computer, and I don't think it's as serious as to attacking the users on my network..
 
It just occurred to me that at the LAN, when the infection came back again, I deleted it..

I ignored it the first time because I thought it had something that usually make AV programs that act weird.


I have not been experiencing any problems, like redirecting web browser, laggy games, or anything..

And I've ran NOD32 3 times, and the one and only time it found something was the first time, and it got rid of it.
