i just bought a used 80gb SATA HD at a flea market. this drive is just going to be my secondary and my copy of XP isnt installed on it. the drive works fine but has 3 partitions/logical drives on it. one is for windows, and the other two are for some programs. i want to delete the partitions and just have the bare drive, as one HD, not split up. it is split up like this:
SYSTEM - 10GB - Primary Partition
BOOTDRV - 40GB - Extended Partition/Logical Drive
MATRIX - 24.52GB - Extended Partition/Logical Drive

if i go into Computer Management and the delete the partitions that way, what will become of the space they held?

You will just have to format the entire drive again after you delete the partitions, its not too hard. Dont worry, you wont lose any space.
