removing thumbcache

I was using CCleaner when I noticed it said it deleted thumbcache in the Explorer file. However when I verified it I saw that there were still several thumbcache files there. I researched it and tried to delete them with a programs called unlocker and file assassin but it did not work. Unlocker made the thumbcach files disappear, but they rebuilt themselves.

Why is this, and how does one delete these files?
 
I tried that first, but the files remain. You are right in that disk cleanup has that option, but it dos not really delete these files.
