Hi there,
I recently got given an old eMachines PC which was owned by former Jarvis Exhibitions in the UK by a manager. Since he no longer needed it, he gave it away to me. Since today, I have been getting rid of programs which I do not need such as Photoshop, iTunes, Nero etc. It came with four different usernames and all have a number of unread email messages (Which is displayed underneath each account) and they all have some sort of administrator right. Three of the usernames have no passwords, but one of them does. I'm guessing that the username with the password is the administrator with all privileges.
I was thinking to do a fresh reinstall of the OS, since I have a disk for it. Yhe problem is though, I'm not sure if the key code on the back would allow a fresh OS to become fully usable. This has happened with another old machine I got given. I reinstalled Windows XP but the key code on the case wasn't valid. My options are either go ahead and reinstall the OS or get rid of the user accounts and files which I do not need. The problem with this is that I do not know the password to the administrator account.
The specifications are as follows:
OS: Windows XP SP2
RAM: 512MB DDR(?)
CPU: Intel Pentium 4, 2.8GHz
Any advice on what to do?
P.S. No, I did not steal the PC
