I have a problem with my pc, missing files.
error message 0xc0000225

Cant load windows. So I Bought a windows vista repair disc online.

I changed the boot sequence for the cd/dvd drive to boot first before the hard-drive. I clicked saved, re-stared the pc with the cd in the cd drive. I can hear the cd trying to load in the drive but then it goes quiet and nothing on my screen. Iv attached a photo of my boot sequence. This was taken after I had moved the cd/dvd drive to the number 1 position . Please advise. Thank you

I just put the cd in my backup laptop drive, the cd loads fine, so I guess its my pc drive thats the issue. I do have a very good external cd/dvd drive I could hook up to my pc. ill give that a try and update you later.

Nah, bios not showing up my external cd/dvd drive...
It does show up my usb pen though

I suppose I have a couple of options, I wonder if anyone can advise me.

1. Can I transfer what is on the repair disc onto a sd card? then try with a usb devise with usb pen?

2. I really dont care about my computer, its whats on the computer that I need (didn't back up my files) I have a few important files on the pc in question. Can I somehow extract the files from the HD onto my external HD?

Your not getting a press so or so key at the bottom of the screen to boot from the CD/DVD drive even if its set to boot from it? As long as you can boot from USB, don't see why not.

nah, not getting a pres any key to continue. Just blank screen. Tomorrow ill try and work on getting the data on the disc onto the usb stick and try it that way. Because right now the built in cd drive is not working and the bios is not recognizing the external cd drive.

What happens if you try and boot from the CD and let it ride? Does it try to load OS or just blank forever?
Could be the "Click any key to boot from CD/DVD" message is shown during blank screen. If it tries to load OS, I would try booting the CD and just spam clicking space while blank screen.
Microsoft disks have a check. If there's an NTFS structure on your drive, it won't (normally) auto boot even if you say boot on disk.

Its blank forever, ill try your suggestion

by the way, its not the official windows vista repair disc, its a repair disc designed to repair all types of windows issues including issues with windows vista. I purchased it from a pc repair company online

OP, you more than likely could have made that same disk form sources on the Internet, just so that you know. Like UBCD4Win or hirens.

Make sure your HDD is set to AHCI in the bios and then raise it to the top of the list for booting with the DVD second. That way if there is no OS on the HDD you it will load up the OS install. Once it does its install and reboots the second time, don't press any key when asked and it will complete the install.

There is no AHCI in the HDD boot sequence , only SATA and bootable add-in cards
That won't show in the boot sequence, but if you look under SATA options there should be an IDE/AHCI mode option. You'd want AHCI as it adds support for additional SATA features such as NCQ and TRIM.

There is no option for AHCI

Im just going to do my best to recover files from HD and re-install windows.

update bios and ensure there isn't an advanced option (google it) ive come accross this in gigabyte board before.

Pull the HDD drive and use one of these to transfer files to your laptop or whatever. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...2002&cm_re=usb_to_sata-_-12-232-002-_-Product

You could burn the Vista disk to USB with Wintoflash or Rufus.

I purchased this item a few days ago, it arrived today, so far so good, im recovering my data on the HD with this devise.Thank you Agent Smith... Now that I have complete access to my HD, my question is, am I able to fix the issue of the missing or corrupt NLS files ? With a program within my HD?

I have another PC with Vista, can I copy the NLS files from that machine with a usb stick and download them into my HD that has the missing or corrupt NLS files? If so can someone explain to me how to do this, im sure its simple but I have never done it before.

So what is the original problem? What OS are you using? Not sure where you think you need NLS files so I need to know what problem you have.
