I just tried to remove both AVG and Spybot but after doing that I tried to install AVG again and it keeps showing errors cannot install.My question is can I do a windows repair with the cd and will that correct the above mention software problems? I know they are dll files that are missing.I have tried both softwrae websites for uninstall softwar but without success.

Which version of AVG did you have on? If it was 7.5 the installer for the latest 8.0 should take care of that once you manually delete two main folders. One is obviously in the Program Files while the second is found in the "DocumentsandSettings\user name\Application Data" sub folder.
That method will often avoid the need for a repair install since that will only repair Windows while leaving those folders intact. When removing those also look in both the startup and services tabs in the msconfig utility to first disable items found in both with AVG. Following a system restart those will be unloaded.

A "repair" will only repair the files in the /WINDOWS folder. There are programs that will attempt to remove spare files that the program's uninstaller might have left behind. So, you may want to try one of those.

The problem there sounds more Windows related where you still need the original installation disk just to get to the recovery console let alone performing a repair install. Is this on a prebuild or custom case? On a prebuild you would need the recovery disks to follow manufacturer's instructions on creating your own.

Well I am still able to use Spybot by using an uninstall program from them so I was able to reinstall and use.As far as AVG I am just not going to bother with that one.I installed clam win which seems to be doing a good job.I do have the original Windows disk from when I had the system built but am not sure if I need to try and do a repair since I am not sure what it will do.Thanks
If both programs had just been put on more recently I would have suggested using a system restore point to back just prior to the installation of them. But the calendar date was likely already exceeded for that.
There are a few dll cleaners. But not knowing which to remove is always a problem since you can too easily remove the wrong as well as right ones.
Besides the Eusing reg cleaner seen there which is strictly an automatic cleaning tool an older free cleaner known as RegCleaner opens up to a main window showing all non MS programs installed. The latest 8.0 release has seen some rather interesting improvements now seeing the ideas behind the Ewido antispyware tool put to use there along with a new IE security toolbar option.
For seeing continued problems with other programs as well as Spybot S&D and now Clam Win instead of a repair install a good clean install of Windows would then allow AVG as well as anything else to go on without hassles. You would be starting fresh again with a brand new system registry to work with.
Between prebeta testing and dual booting/multi booting OSs here nothing seems better then that fresh copy where Windows runs much faster not being loaded down with a ton of startups. But then when a problem build for one prebeta build has a glitch a reinstall may be the only solution to recover.

Just tried to highlite the reg cleaner site and it won't open.So I will try to find reg cleaner on Google.Just have to make sure which one I use. As far as doing a clean install what happens to all my other installed programs such as Nero>Nvidia>and so on? Also what happens with my favorites and email members?

Windows does have a file and settings transfer wizard for backing thing up that takes forever. Once you have a fresh copy on you would have to create all of your email contacts in OE all over again one at a time.
You can copy all favorites and links into the new favorites folder easy enough while being prompted to overwrite the new links folder. In some cases you might have to double click on each url file and add each again however. That can also be time consuming.
