Repairing operating systems

I have windows on one drive and it has some major registry errors. I need to reinstall windows. Also, i have linux on another drive. I use GRUB as my bootloader. When i reinstall windows it will write over grub and disable it. I need to keep my files from linux intact and boot into linux once i get windows reinstalled.
SO: How do I put grub back on as my bootloader so i can boot linux once I reinstall windows?
I need to keep the files of both systems intact. I have backed-up my windows Doc&Set folder.
 
I take it its windows XP,

go into bios and change the boot device to cd-rom, then boot from the cd into the windows, when asked click repair, then type,

chkdsk,
fixboot,
fixdsk

and your done

I wanted to just do a full reinstall to fix some more serious issues. repairs have not fully fixed things before. However, I still have linux on my other drive and ready to go, except GRUB was written over by windows so now i cant boot into linux. Can I reinstall linux without it formatting or erasing my files? especially /home and /root

Atleast with SuSe 9.3 you can fix GRUB after installing Windows. Just put the Linux distro CD/DVD in if and see if you get an option to repair install the Linux installation. That's how it works for SuSe 9.3.
