Hi:) My motherboard is getting ready to go out on me so I know I need to replace it. I'm wondering if I should replace my processor too. I am on disability so money is definitely a factor. Thanks for any help anybody can give me!!!!

Current setup:
Windows XP Pro SP3
AMD Duron Processor 1.19Ghz, 768 Mg of RAM (ACPI\AUTHENTICAMD_-_X86_FAMILY_6_MODEL_7\_0)
Motherboard - ECS KS5A 1.0
Bios - American Megatrends Inc. Version 07.00T 4/02/01

i would replace either duron is very old so to replace both board and cpu but keep the rest of the system old memory etc would be a waste of money, if i were you i would browse some sites like ebay etc and look for a cheap replacement system

You can probably buy a used PC with better specs than that for $100 or less if you look around. Try searching craigslist or ebay. I don't even know where you would look for the correct mobo and cpu to fit in that machine. Whatever you'd find would probably be used and you never know what you're getting into with used parts that are that old.

I'd say it's time to build a whole new computer. Although if you can't afford it, try newegg's motherboard/cpu combo deals if you want to save some money but get something newer and more capable.
