Replace shell for skins and the likes-

How can I replace the shell in XP so that only one skin exist; so that only one logon screen exists; et cetera. I don't want my theme to cover a core shell if it's possible that it can become the core permanently.

Would anyone know how to go about this?

Besides redefining your terms a little you can have Windows load directly to the desktop without the need for seeing a logon screen to begin with. https://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/tips/advanced/autologon.mspx

I have all that set up. Nonetheless, thank you.

I'm at a loss trying to adjust my own settings for Windows' default. I want to rewrite the original shell.

I saw something in Tweak UI that brought me closer to that. And I've heard of a program by Heaven Tools called ResTuner. Personally, though, I'm at a loss.
