Replacing a laptops wireless card?

My laptop has been acting flaky in terms of wireless connection. The reason I say it's flaky (as I realize wireless connectivity is influenced by several factors) is that others can come to my house and use my wireless perfectly fine where as I get dropped quite often.

I'm not real clear on the ins and outs of laptop cards and even if buying a new card would help, but I was looking at these and was wondering if they would help.

Would popping one of those in improve my wireless connectivity any? I have a Toshiba Satellite M55-S3292.

In theory, if you purchase one of the adapters listed on that page and the wireless in your laptop is defective then yes, it will make a difference in wireless quality/signal.

Your laptop supports: 1 PC Card slot support 1 Type II, PCMCIA R2.01, PC Card16, CardBus

Most of the adapters on the page you linked to should work, just make sure that the one you pick out supports one of the above protocols/interfaces.

On a side note, are you aware of the battery recall for your laptop? If not, I'd jump on that now and get your battery replaced for free by Toshiba: link 1, link 2.

Ok thanks for the info.

And no, I was no aware of a recall. Will have to look into that. Thanks again!

you could buy a internal wireless card also .. you should have a mini pci slot on the bottem of your laptop.

I have used one of those in my lappy. For those prices, YES buy one of them. I bought one when they were like 60 bucks a few years back. They help.
