Hi, i have decided to get a new CPU Fan, but i dont know what i should do once i get to the thermal compound, how do i clean it? Also i want a very good CPU Fan to keep it at about 20 Idle, its for a AMD 64-Bit 3400+ 754 Socket.

Thanks

i think you just wipe it down with something.
just make sure the thing your using doesnt leave behind fuze.

just take of heatsink.
clean of heatsink head and cpu top. "not sure what clothe to use"

to put on thermal compound just put a tiny pit on in the middle.

ill look for a heatsink

Remove old fan, remove old hs. clean cpu and hs using alcahol and let dry. Put a bb size amount of good thermal compound (artic silver) and spread evenly across cpu using a credit card edge, make sure it's all covered with no missed area. Install new or cleaned old hs and mount fan. Best bet is a new heat sink and fan from the better manufacturers.
You mention getting a new fan, do you mean fan and hs?

there, good that will be fine try that.
sorry for the lack of goodness in my last thread "iwas in a hurry, kida like now "im late for school almost!"

or just wiping it of with some linen tissue would already do, no need to do it with alcohol ;)
just make shure you dont see any of the old thermal paste anymore, and you'll be fine.
also, make shure you dont put to much paste on the CPU when you put the new one in, because thats very bad for the heat conducting ;)
