Replacing Mobo

Ok so my mobo friend and i ordered THE EXACT SAME mobo cuz i hear compaqs can be picky...so my question is do i pop the old one out n stick the new one in and be good to go? or do i have to reisntall windows or reformat my hard drive? or someoen else told me i mite have to do a bios update or something...do i have to do all that if its the exact same mobo?
 
If your replacing it with the same exact motherboard, then you shouldnt need to re-install windows. But i would back up my files first just in case.

And as long as its the same motherboard, you shouldnt need to do a BIOS update.
 
well the thing is that my computer wont even boot..so i cant back up my files i guess....but yea its the exact same one..dont know the model... i just went on my computer companies website n ordered the part...but i wont need to reformat the hd or ne thing afterwards rite?
