Replacing my HDD with an SSD?

Someone told me I could replace the HDD in my Windows 10 desktop with a Samsung SSD without having to reinstall anything. Including my OS. Is that true?

Yes, absolutely. You could clone the HDD to an SSD. This assumes the SSD is as large or larger than the occupied space on the HDD. Another method would be to do a system image backup of the HDD to another drive then do a restore of that backup to the SSD.

You will appreciate going from a platter, to an SSD boot / system drive. My desktop boots and is ready to work, in 18 seconds.

I use AOMEI Backupper for this. It's free. All you need to do is install the SSD in the computer and then fire up AOMEI Backupper. Chose the source drive as your current hard drive and the destination drive as the SSD. Chose the clone option and the align option. You don't have to chose sector by sector.

Once the clone is complete turn off the computer, remove your old hard drive and boot the PC. It should boot right from the SSD like nothing ever changed.
