Replacing my northbridge

My new case is coming son and when i move the stuff over im gonna put on my new heatsink on northbridge.
However last time i moved case i f*cked up my motehbroard so what exactly can i do to my motherboard to not screw it up eg. is it safe for me to be handling it with my hands all over? Can it touch the desk without a worry etc...??? cos i dont want to short this one out too.

Put it in an ESD bag when not in a case.
And just ground yourself when replacing the heatsink and northbridge.

Can i lean the motherboard on a table / lay it down without damadge?

Do you have the bag your mobo came in?

then put it in the bagwhen you take it out... and also you might want to get an anti-static wristband

You don't have to put it back in the bag if you are just switching cases. I just set mobos on the bag it came in, on the box or even a book when I take them out of the case.
