Replacing Northbridge

Dont know how easy the new one will go on, never used one. But the stock ones on those boards are easy to remove, They just screw on/off from the back of the board.

Ok, what do you think I should do about my Southbridge? Should I get another Thermaltake cooler? Or just copper heatsinks?

And what's the best way to remove the cpu block?

Thanks.

i've heard if you just unscrew them and hold the board upside down, and then use a hair dryer to warm it up or something, then they should come off with ease

The evga 7xx series boards dont use a thermal adhesive, so it should be similar to taking the cooler off of a cpu, just warm the area.. GENTLY as to not melt the solder and it should come right off, and also, you do have some mosfet heatsinks for the mosfets... right?

Hm, alright, what about my CPU? Should I take the water block and stuff off?

So I need a hair dryer to take the HS off? I can't just carefully remove it?

Thanks.

You can try removing it without heat, just carefully move it back and forth, if it doesnt seem like its going to come off, i would take a hair dryer to it for a few seconds.

I don't have a clue how'd you do that, after just looking at my board next to me... That's going be a real bastard as there's three different HS's all joined together.

The SB HS is right under the GPU, too. So if you did replace it, it'd have to be a really low profile one!

I'd put on some copper heatsinks or something.

Thanks.
