Replacing notebook minipci wifi

Can I successfully replace the Intel wifi card(internal mini PCI) in my Toshiba p200 with a broadcom based card? I have actually done the replacement but I can't seem to get it to power on the wifi card. I've installed the proper drivers for the card and it is recognized in the device manager but all windows networking says the card is not turned on. Any thoughts or ideas?

Yes, there is a button, two actually. One is a hardware switch on the front which has no effect on the new card and another keyboard shortcut for a software switch which also has no effect now.

Windows might have it turned off.

I wish I could tell you exactly how to turn it on/enable it, but last time I did this it took me an hour and a half jerking around within Vistas labyrinthian menu structure to do it.

Hopefully, you'll have better luck than I did.
