Replacing Vista?

Ok so sometime in the near future, I'm going to be buying a laptop from either Dell or HP. Most likely it will come with Vista. Will I be able to reformat the HDD and install XP on it rather than Vista?

If there are XP drivers available for the specific model, then yes. With Dell and HP, I wouldn't hold your breath that they will make XP drivers available. But that is the "make or break" of whether XP will work well on a machine made for Vista, driver availability.

Yep be very careful welcome to the future the future is Vista and there is nothing you can really do.. Most hardware manufacturers dont even waste time building xp drivers anymore... Vista has been here a year and a half and starting in june you cannot even buy xp for a business anymore so its microsofts way of saying get with the times people they gave us enough time as they think.. Just to let you know i spent 2 days on a recent hp laptop becuase a customer wanted xp and i searched for 2 days and finally found a compatable xp driver but man was that no fun!!!
