hi,
i recently purchased a dell mini 10v and there are a few issues I have with it that can hopefully be resolved with simple softwares. I'm not at all computer savvy, so i'm wondering if someone with more experience could help me with these issues?
1. a volume status manager- ie a quick on screen notification of volume on/off, and better yet, bars that show up on screen to indicate how much of the volume is being used up- my computer has the icon in the taskbar but an onscreen one would be better, as is normally present with other dell computers. is it possible that there is an option for this on the dell 10v that just needs to be switched on?
2. an application that allows you to extend your vertical screens- ie like what iphones can do horizontally- i know some poeople have this application that allows them to have multiple horizontal desktops but i think the advantage for an extended vertical screen is that some windows don't fit on the 1024x600 screen, so being able to basically shift your desktop up or down fixes this issue, especially when installing programs. so i'm not sure if this would be resolved by having multiple vertical desktops, or if you just need to extend the desktop somehow.
3. battery management software- i've heard of some people using apps that minimize their battery usage- ie the soundcard turns off automatically when not in use, etc.
4. the dell mini 10v trackpad is sensitive to double touch and triple touch. i can do double touch scrolling as is an option wiht macs. I am wondering if there is a way to create a touchpad based maneover that will allow me to switch windows. ie instead of doing alt+tab, can this be done iwth the track pad?
thanks for your input. i apologize if this posting is in the wrong place
