Resetting my BIOS isn't working

Evening everyone. I have an ASUS P5PL2 mobo, and I messed up overclocking settings in my BIOS. (I really should have known better)
Well, now when I boot up my computer buzzes and whirs, but doesn't beep, and nothing comes up on the screen. So I tried to reset my BIOS. Open up the mobo manual which i'm glad I kept. It says: Remove the cmos battery, move the CLR jumper from pins 1 and 2 to 2 and 3 for 5-10 seconds. Move them back, reinstall the battery and boot. I've done this, but nothing happens. Any advice anyone?

Many Thanks
Yoonsi

Try doing it a little bit differently, first move the jumper, let it sit for a few seconds, remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, reinstall the battery, then move the jumper to the normal position and see if it works then.

You're disconnecting the PSU and pressing the Power button to discharge any remaining power, too, right?

hmm ive tried all sorts of variations and yeah ive d/c the psu nd discharged the power. thx for response though

Perhaps your only problem is the duration. My board seems to take forever to clear the CMOS (relatively speaking). Just pull the battery, switch the jumper and wait a longer indiscriminate period of time.

Mine works after an overkill of 15 minutes.

Hm, could leaving the batter out for extended periods damage the mobo in any way? I had the same idea last night after doing some research and some people said it took up to 30 mins, and some said even 24 hours! So its been out overnight, and i'll probably plug it back in tomorrow. If this is unsafe please let me know.
