I'm new here I have a problem with my shuttle box.
A friend helped me build it 3 years ago. Running windows xp I have a not genuine statment when I start up, after someone ran an unauthorized (by me) update.

Computer automatically restarts, I have only about 1 or two minutes at most after start up past password/not genuine....

I get these warnings
problem with uibvb.exe
followed by error 0x0040002f, reference memory at 0x00000007

I did get through to turn off the autorestart option in the my computer settings.

Safe mode yields the 0x7b blue screen.

What do I do???
Thanks.

Safe mode gives a blue screen it is the 0x7b
I dont want to loose any of my hard drive information, espeically pictures.
Will doing a XP system repair wipe them?

Would it be possible to remove the HD set it up as a slave, and retrieve my information from it that way? Then put in a new HD and start over with the OS??

that is an option if you have a second HDD and a OS to go on it, but not all blue screen errors are not always software related and you may still have a problem when you install the new HDD and OS.

So to do this, I will need to buy a hard drive, install it, set up the bios*,
and install a new OS, set the current drive to slave, and the files should be accessible for transfer? Then I reformat the drive.
Right?

How difficult is it to set up the bios and install an OS?
Thanks for all the help.
