Hello

All I am requireing a little help if possible.

My machine is a home build and has been working fine for over a year. I have recently started using ABC bit torrent client. This has resulted in my machine shuting down with out notice only when I am downloading torrents.

What i mean is, it's like there is a power cut. It just dies.
As soon as it's turned off it restarts as if i've just turned it on.

Any help would be fantasic.

Thanks in advance.

Go into System Properties, Advanced Tab, Startup and Recovery Settings, and uncheck the Automatically restart box under System failure.

Then, next time you crash you will most likely get a BSOD and that will give you an idea of where to look.

Chances are there is a program/driver conflict.

Dngrsone Indeed you where correct the error is driver issue.

The actuall error is

Driver_IRQL_ Not _less_or_equal.

I don't suppose some one would be able to direct me to the solution to such a problem if there is one?

Thanks

Dang... that's one of the most common failures.

Okay... if you can duplicate the problem by running bittorrent (I'm assuming you don't want to go to another p2p app), then maybe you could try turning off services one at a time until you can get bittorrent to run without causing a fail.

Another possibility is that it's another application that is trying to access teh internet while you are downloading... AV, perhaps, or something that is set to periodically check for updates.

A yes see what you mean.

I will try another p2p application and if that doesn't work will follow your instructions.

Thanks

Funny, I had a similar problem when I was running emule. Would crash after about 10 mins with that error. Turns out it was an application conflict resulting from a dll shared between emule and my nvidia net manager firewall thing (cant remember what they called it, 'active armour' or something). Point is I only resolved it by removing the active armour software entirely. It was either that or give up my beloved emule... couldn't bring myself to do it.

Could be something similar? i'd search the internet for similar claims of problems, and/or examine possible conflicts between apps.
