No, of course it doesn't...

Turning it and off will cause the HDD to turn, thus, SLOWLY shortening it's life, but it's the same with everything you do on a computer...

So in short, No.

No, it won't. However, if you don't fully shut down windows every time you turn it off (and did that for 1200 times), you might want to reinstall windows (or at least do some maintenance, like cleaning the registry, etc).

Well it all depends if you restarted it that many times in 4 years, no it wont hurt it, but if its restarted that many times in 2 days it cant be good for it;)

every time you turn your computer on and off, you wear down components, but restarting does absolutely nothing to your file system

your power supply (or any switches power supply) builds carbon deposits every time it interrupts electron flow (it eventually puts out less and less power) and hard drives are typically rated for how many times they can start and stop spinning before they fail. They continue to spin, even at low speed, the entire time your computer is on for this reason.

But i restart my computer religiously every time i install/uninstall programs, and every time my ram starts getting tangled up in crashed programs, or poorly written programs that don't give the memory back, and i've never had a problem.

I would also like to add a bit of input into this... Dellhead, please be sure to type correctly and please do not show your ignorance by making everythign hard for us to read. Most people simply will not help people as much when they do not present themselves in a proper manner. I found this topic a bit painful to read. Just thought I would toss my 2 cents in!
