restore factory defaults on vista

Hi,

I want to go back to the PC's factory defaults because my system is very instable. Does anyone know which button to press to enter this 'restore to factory defaults screen'. It used to be ctrl+F11 in win XP, but I don't know what it is with Vista.

A friend of mine said it is now F8, but that doesn't do anyhing either. Would it be the same if I entered the BIOS and system restored from there? Or does that delete the OS as well?

reseting the BIOS does not directly change the OS. Do you have the Vista cd that came with the computer? If you do you can reinstall off the CD. I'm guessing there probably is a roll back feature but im not sure.

Installing a new OS would not affect the BIOS, the command should be the same in Vista as it was in XP, but as your doing it before Windows actually loads it doesnt make a difference what version of Windows you have :)

If you have the Vista CD you can do a repair install which will find any files that are missing and re-new them. Other than that, if you want it to be like new, reformat your HDD and put the OS back on.

Did you made a restore point when you first installed, if so just use System Restore
