For a while now, I've been working with a computer thats running slower and slower. I've come to the conclusion that there is either some sort of corrupt windows file or i have some sort of virus Norton can't find.
Several people have told me that, in this Hp pavillion, there is a way you can restore your computer to factory settings. (ie. clean the HDD of everything but windows and such). Has anyone heard of anything like this? I was told it is a key combo that can be pressed upon boot up. I've never heard of anything like this, so why not ask the computer people :P

I've restored my Sony Vaio several times using a recovery disk. You should check out your computer's support page at the HP website for instructions.

Make sure your computer boots from your CD/DVD Drive first. Pop in the O/S disk, boot from it, and follow the directions. 7/8 automatic.

Recovery Parition - Run it, and it's basically the O/S disk saved to a HDD partition. Follow the directions and you're good to go.

REMEMBER - Make only ONE partition, do NOT delete the recovery partition, and BACK UP any important files.
