i lost the cds to my computer to restore it to factory date cause i got a virus on my other computer is there anyway to restore to factorty date without them? i tryed restore to ealrier date but said could not so please help me

Could you please attempt to use a little more punctuation in your posts?
Having a virus isn't much of a reason to format. Unless you're paranoid, scan with your anti-virus, and whatever other malware tools you have.
You can get pretty close to a fresh system with some cleaning. For $10 or so you should be able to order another XP cd.

what seems to be the problem? its probably easier solving the virus problem then getting a new cd and installing it again.penguin001 said:

so if you dont mind, do you know of the virus problem? any particular pop up? restarting? etc.. and messages you see constantly?

Alright i got it to work by restoring to factory settings. i had already tried using the antivirus programs and it didnt detect it, so i just did a system restore and it worked. thanks for all ur help, and srry about the punctuation in the first post, that was my friend typing and he just doesnt type well.
