Restoring 'puter to factory settings? How to and it's advisability?

How would I go about restoring my compter to the way it was when I bought it? There is nothing on my computer that I cannot easily replace.
I have been told that it is a straightforward process to do this, but do not know how. I have a Gateway SX2801-07e running Microsoft 7.
Any and all help is appreciated!
 
Do you have a windows installation disc that came with the computer? If so, just use that to reinstall windows.
 
Should be a program menu labeled Gateway recovery management. There recovery option should be in there.
