Retrieve data off of EIDE hard drive?

I have a Western Digital WD3200BEVE internal laptop hard drive. It is 320 GB, an ATA-100, 2.5", hard drive with a buffer size of 8 MB and spindle speed of 5400 rpm.

I was told over the phone by Western Digital technical support that the hard drive has an EIDE connector. It has the 44 pins section (with one missing, so technically 43 pins) than a gap with 4 more pins on one end of the connector.

I simply need an EIDE to USB cable to retrieve data off of the hard drive. I'm having trouble being certain of what I need on amazon or newegg. Most USB connectors are for IDE or SATA and I don't know if the IDE connector is compatible with an EIDE connector.

Western Digital also mentioned on the phone that I should make sure the cable is compatible with Western Digital drives (don't know if that's possible as newegg doesn't have technical support).

It also seems that EIDE to USB is perhaps not available anymore and I need a EIDE to SATA to USB setup of some kind.

Anyway, can anyone send me a link to the cable(s) I need? I'm looking for the cheapest option but one that will definitely work. I'm open to an enclosure option as well if it's around $20.

I'm in a rush to get this data so I need to place an online order soon.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies.

So it seems that EIDE is compatible with the IDE connector, one just doesn't use the extra 4 pins at the end.

Would any of these enclosures work?--

I don't understand if my hard drive needs "power" to get data off of it. I see that the cables you guys recommended offer power, but I don't understand how the power adapters are utilized. From the way that I understand one end connects to the hard drive and the other end is USB.

If those enclosures won't work, I'll go with one of the cables.

Thanks again.

Any 2.5" enclosure will work. Usually the enclosure comes with a usb cable with 2 connectors on it, one for data, one for power.

2.5" drives get power directly from the connection. You don't need to utilize a power adapter with a 2.5" drive unless it's a SATA drive.
