Retrofit a CD / DVD burner in Toshiba 2800-S201 laptop with WinXP Pro ?

I recently learned that TOSHIBA 2800 - S201 laptop was originally built with Win ME and DVD -ROM . Laptop OS was later upgraded to Win XP , and then lost its DVD reading capability ( as lacking codec in Win XP ??? ) .

I plan to obtain the codec software to regain DVD reading for movie viewing . Please correct me if I am misinformed on this issue .

Is it possible to install an internal component which will provide CD burn function ? DVD burn function ?
