Reusing a case

So i have a HP case from probably 6 years ago that i just gutted and am parting out. I plan to build a new rig. I made another thread earlier about buying a gateway, but now im thinking about just building my own rig.

My question is, how "universal" are cases? I don't mind the look of it, im wondering if i could fill this old HP case with new stuff, and have everything fit okay. What do you think?

The case is from an HP A405n if that matters. Thanks alot.

tbh i would get a new case,i had the exact same case for my old rig and its quite a good case exept my power button broke lol.

Cases are cheap nowdays,do you realy want to be sticking new components in an old case?

You might have trouble fitting components other than what was in it to start with because its an Hp case and they usualy make things to fit their stuff but im not saying it wouldnt work. :)

Depends. Most prebuilt rigs have proprietary connectors for front panel (power, lights, reset button etc.), at least my HP rig did. Older computers, however, may be more compliant (all old rigs I have come with standard connetors). Have a look inside.

As for everything else, motherboard screw layouts and things like that usually go by ATX standards, so there should be nothing to worry about in that regard.

if you want to use the old case, thats fine. IMO, it would be more fun to have a cool case, but if you dont care, then keep that case!
