reversed jumper and other Q

on my motherboard on an old dell computer the jumpers are labled 233, 266, 300, 333. when i set it to 233, everything is normal. when I put it on 333 it goes to 133 mhz. why? Also if I put it on anything betweent the two, the screen shows nothing and does'nt turn on. why?

I think thats to manually tell the mobo what Speed the processor is... Ever think of upgrading?

Thats prabally the FSB, and the others prabally arn;t supprted with your current set-up.
